Kingsway is a legendary 12,000 square foot private residence and event venue. Located in the fabled French Quarter and designed by Los Angeles-New Orleans based LM Pagano, architect Wayne Troyer and owner Sean Cummings, this Italiante building has earned media acclaim in The Robb Report, Louisiana Homes & Gardens and various web sites. Built in 1848, the home has been owned by all manner of local characters.
The colorful past includes Prohibition-era ownership by restaurateur Count Leon Arnault Cazenave and subsequently his debaucherous, Easter Parade founding daughter Germaine Wells. During the early 1990’s, the property housed perhaps the most prolific recording studio in the world, Kingsway Studio owned and operated by peerless producer Daniel Lanois. His is an uncommon talent, and the industry’s most venerable names flocked to him at Kingsway, among them: U2, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, the Neville Brothers, Pearl Jam, Peter Gabriel, R.E.M., Robbie Robertson, Sheryl Crow, Iggy Pop, Cowboy Mouth and many other respected artists. Nicolas Cage owned it, shooting “Sonny” at Kingsway in 2002. Cummings bought and renovated the property in 2004, and in recent years, this venerable property has been leased for iconic functions. Director David Fincher lived here. Global Green hosted dinner for President Mikhail Gorbachev, the organization’s co-founder.
For years some of the world’s most talented artisans and entrepreneurs have sought out Kingsway for its unique ambience, born of Lanois’ and now the Pagano/Cummings duo’s take on beauty. Underlying it all at this special property is a shared belief that for creative people, a great workspace must reflect the passionate pursuit and free the muse within.
